The New After (spot the difference)!

Bad News.

The Heritage Lotter Fund Trustees have extended the funding deadline for the Holburne's project.  As Xa Strurgis said, they have not imposed a deadline, but it won't be forever.

The Holburne Trustees have submitted new planning permission and listed buildings consent applications.  The new plan includes a change of colour from blue to brown; a reduction of less that two feet in roof height; an extra window; and a shrinking of the moat.  Otherwise, it is still the same; industrial, modernist, and completely inappropriate for Sydney Gardens, and for Bath.

Planning Application :  07/02961/FUL
Listed Buildings Consent :  07/02962/LBA

Background.

 1. The Holburne's planning application and listed building consent has been rejected by a majority of 9 to 3, by Bath's Development Control Committee.

2. The deadline for the Heritage Lottery Funding grant decision was 31st July.

3. The HLF have, in negotiations with The Holburne, extended the deadline for the funding decision to allow the Holburne Trustees to re-apply for planning permission.

4. The Holburne Trustees have submitted new applications (links above).

Please Help!

Please register with this site.  Show that, despite all the positive spin in the local press, that not everyone is in favour of this project.  All you need to do is give an e-mail address and a name.  It will help me keep you in touch with events, and I will not pass your e-mail address on to anyone else.

Please see How to Object.  The process has effectively started again!  There are planning applications to which we must object.  The new applications are effectively nothing more than a colour change, and a shrinking of the moat, so all previous objections still stand.

Notes from the Previous Application

As you are aware, The Holburne are proposing an extension which is a direct threat to our heritage, not just locally, but globally.  Bath is a globally important city.

The supposed deadlines for submissions to the planning application and listed building consent have expired, Planning Services still appear to be accepting submissions.  So, if you haven't already commented on the Holburne proposal, please do so now using the links below...

Now is the time for the second wave.  We need to write to our councillors, MPs, The Minister for Culture, Media and Sport (currently Tessa Jowell), English Heritage, The Heritage Lottery Fund.  We need to make this a front-line issue.  If you write and you don't receive a reply, write again in a week's time, and ask them why they haven't replied.  You will find the names and addresses of to whom to write on the How to Object link.

If you receive replies, send them to me, and I'll post them on the site.

Join the fight, and stop Eric Parry ruining the only 18th Century Pleasure Gardens left in the world.
