Don Foster has, after a little prompting, declared his support for the Holburne scheme.  He also sent me a photocopy of the support quotes from the "great" and the "good" that The Holburne are sending out.  These "great" and "good" people include the art critic of the Daily Telegraph, the Chairman of the Urban Regeneration Panel, Kevin McCloud (a television personality), and directors of galleries various.

I can't see how the opinions of a journo, a man off the telly, or art gallery men looking for another lucrative venue when touring their exhibits, can really hold any water in this debate.  I find it risible that the chairman of the Urban Regeneration Panel's opinion should be considered weighty.  I mean, Sydney Gardens is hardly a depressed area.  I'm not sure the residents of Sydney Place are going to be rioting in the streets, Toxteth style, anytime soon.

From Mr. Foster's letter I get the impression that he expects the Development Control Committee to grant planning permission.  His use of the phrase "...even if the scheme is given approval..." suggests he expects a favourable wind for the plan.

Here is Don Foster's letter in full.
